Central Christian Church has a long, rich heritage. It was established in 1877. Its history is rooted in the larger fellowship of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The Christian Church was born on the frontier in the midst of a divided church. Its birth was an effort to unite followers of Christ through the restoration of the new Testament teachings and practice.
We are one of the largest religious bodies born of American soil. Christian churches number 4,500 with a membership of one and one-half million. Our belief reflects a blending of American idealism and new Testament Christianity. We have long cherished the basic convictions "We are Christians only, not the only Christians." We are a congregationally governed body which owns its own property, elects its own officers and plans its own program of worship, fellowship and service. We would be honored to have you share in our spiritual life and growth. You may come by transfer of membership (either by statement or letter), or you may come by confession of faith and baptism. Unite with us in service to the Master which influences the city and touches the world.
